The CWC Warthog

CWC Warthog

When assembling their armory, the Core World engineers found that they lacked critical parts or supplies for certain CAVs. Most of these components were re-engineered into heavy CAVs, this being far more affordable than purchasing them. The remaining parts were then used to build approximations of whatever happened to be in short supply. In one such case, a CWC commander found himself in possession of several KDM Jaguars sans several key systems, most notably their PBGs. In need of electronics support CAVs, he decided to refit the Jaguars in a reconnaissance role. His engineers did what they could, but some compromises had to be made. The internal modifications necessary to fit the ECM unit were more extreme than expected, leaving the structural integrity significantly compromised. A shortage of available weapon systems limited options for replacing the PBGs. The prototype version was simply mounted with a pair of what were originally point defense laser turrets. Finding this lacking, the unit later retrofitted most of them with salvaged Templar flamers. The final result was a CAV remarkably similar to the KDM Puma in function.

The question of what to name the new CAV caused several weeks of lively debate within the unit; accusations of inventing animal names nearly sparked more than one fistfight. In the end, it was christened the Warthog, though several continue to insist on calling it the Chupacabra.

How to Build the Warthog

To build a Warthog, you will need:

  • 1 Jaguar chassis
  • 1 Jaguar legs
  • 1 Talon arm
  • 1 Spartan arm

They are best made in pairs, so you can make use of both arms from each sprue.

Only one minor modification is necessary, to the arms-they need to be angled outward so that they aren’t too close to the legs. This will require trimming the nub on the arm at approximately a 45 degree angle. Align the top of the arm with the chassis (so that it’s angled outward at the bottom); glue and/or pin the arm in that position, fill the extra space with putty, and you’re done!
