What is CAVComCon All About
Back in January I finally got sick of creating CAV Task Forces. Cross referencing between sheets of data cards, a spreadsheet to keep track of points and abilities, and then keeping track of data cards during a game was just too much hassle. Additionally, I’m a Mac guy so the spreadsheet that I’ve seen others use wasn’t very helpful, either.
Around the same time, I realized that I need a project to experiment with a couple new web technologies. Heroku looked interesting and I wanted to play with their offering. I also needed to get some experience with Rails 2.0 before we migrated PatientsLikeMe to that version.
These two problems collided and CAVComCon was born. I planned to launch a couple months ago, but Rage Chronicles 2008 was released, invalidating all of the data cards I had already entered. I delayed launch to get the data cards updated. In the meantime, I decided to make this a CAV blog, where I could put up some of the ideas I have for the game so I added that functionality to the site.
I’ve gotten Adon, Terran and Rach data cards updated and ready to go. Douglas Schaub (Vil-hatarn on the Reaper and MilNet) forums has agreed to contribute some content as he has time, and my son, Arthur, has also joined the crew. I’ve decided that with so much support and so much ready that it is time to quite stalling and launch.
It is with great pleasure, that we announce the CAV Command Console. Enjoy.
